PFAS Water Filtration In Morris, Coal City, Diamond, Kankakee & Minooka
The EPA recently announced the final National Primary Drinking Water Regulation (NPDWR) for six PFAS.
The rule is expected to take effect in 2027 and requires public water systems to monitor and notify the public of the levels of these PFAS in water supplies. The rule also allows public water systems five years to reduce PFAS exposure if they exceed these MCLs and implement solutions by 2029.
Many public and private water supplies in Northeast Illinois have been impacted by PFAS, PFOS, PFOA, and other “Forever Chemicals”. Check out the Environmental Working Group’s PFAS Map to see how your area has been affected.
PFOA (Perfluorooctanoic acid or perfluorooctanoate) and PFOS (perfluorooctane sulfonate) are chemicals that have been used in the United States since the 1940s in the manufacturing of popular consumer goods including Teflon, pesticides, household cleaning products, and other items. Unfortunately, a lot of chemical waste ends up being dumped in the water supply we drink from. Imagine 80 years of chemical waste contaminating the water we use every day.
According to the BetterWaterToday.org:
“The risks associated with many PFAS chemicals are largely unknown; however, there is evidence that exposure to low levels of PFOA and PFOS can lead to health impacts in humans. The likelihood of potential adverse effects depends on factors such as the concentration of PFAS ingested as well as the time span of exposure.
Research has shown potential health impacts of PFOA/PFOS exposure include low infant birth weight, decreased fertility, elevated cholesterol, abnormal thyroid hormone levels, liver inflammation, weakening of the immune system, and testicular and kidney cancer.”
Our systems have been tested and certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 58 by NSF International.
